At the top of Miss Whalley’s Field next to Derwent Road is a memorial stone installed by the Friends of the Field. This commemorates the gift of the field by Miss Whalley in memory of her Father and more particularly of her brother Julian Whalley who was killed in WW1.
At 11am on Thursday 11th November, three local Primary Schools will join together to mark Remembrance Day at the stone memorial to Julian Whalley at the top of the Field. Cathedral School, Christ Church School and Castle View School will all be represented and the ceremony will be led by Rev Carol Backhouse from Christchurch.
