Miss Whalley’s Filed now has a second new bench as requested by local people. This one is next to the mown area and well away from the Derwent Road traffic.

The bench was installed by local volunteers with the help of Gary Metcalfe, a local builder. We are very grateful for all their hard work. 

Christ Church Primary School Council (2 children from each class) have visited to get ideas for their time capsule which will be buried under the bench. The capsule will be buried on Friday 12th July at 11.45. The whole school are going to come along and have a school picnic afterwards.

Among the bench’s first users were a Norwegian couple visiting Lancaster who enjoyed the warm sunshine and admired the fine view over the city and Morecambe Bay.

The bench will no doubt also prove popular with local dog walkers. It has already proved a hit with the dogs – see above!
