Memorial Garden finished at last!

Work on the Memorial Garden was started by pupils from Central Lancaster High School before Covid was even a small cloud on the horizon. Unfortunately all work had to stop as soon as the pandemic struck and it is only now, thanks to help from UU and their partners Sapphire Utility Solutions, that we finally have a memorial garden we can be proud of.

As you can see from the above image we now have  smart paved area immediately in front of the Memorial stone and two planting beds for flowers etc. The ugly raised manhole cover has disappeared and the whole thing looks very smart indeed. Many thanks to UU and Sapphire for a great job and also to the Council for their support throughout the process.

Here is Stef from the City Council with two of the Memorial wreaths from Remembrance Day. Hopefully this garden will bloom in the Spring and provide a fitting backdrop for Remembrance events for many years to come.

The work on the Garden followed on from completion of the new pavement to the bus stop. The first stage of UU’s work on the field is now complete and the focus shifts to the new Drainage plan. Watch this space………….!
